The McLaren 675LT – a hardcore take on the 650S revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – has already sold out, but it looks like a Spider version’s on the way.
McLaren revealed the 675LT (Long Tail) at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of months ago as a hardcore take on the 650S, with more power, more focus and a moniker that evoked the Long Tail Versions of the fabled McLaren F1 from the 1990s.But McLaren only planned a limited run of the 675S – just 500 cars – and that’s all been sold in just two months.
Speaking to Autoblog, McLaren’s Wayne Bruce (make your own jokes – he’s used to it) revealed the hardcore 675LT is all sold out, and that it was snapped up by a diverse range of buyers, with half of them new to the brand and the other half already owners (or former owners) of a McLaren.
But if you were hankering after a more focused 650S but missed out on the 675LT, all may not be lost – it seems McLaren are planning a Spider (convertible) version for 2016.
According to Autogespot, McLaren dealers are busy canvassing owners about the appetite for a convertible take on the 675LT – an idea that would be a bit daft were it not for the McLaren carbon fibre tub that would keep a Spider 675LT as rigid as the coupe – and it seems the appetite is there.
So it looks like the McLaren 675LT will arrive in 2016 in similarly small numbers to the Coupe, and a price a chunk more than the coupe’s £260k.
