McLaren P1 GTR up for sale in the UK at a cool £3,000,000

A rare McLaren P1 GTR is up for sale at Supervettura in the UK, with just a handful of miles on the clock and a price of £3,000,000 – £1m more than its new price.

When the dust had settled on the McLaren P1 sales – the car which is the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1 – McLaren decided what buyers really, really wanted was a track only version of the P1. So they created the McLaren P1 GTR.

Without the constraints of making the P1 GTR road-legal (although that can be done), McLaren were able to deliver a more hardcore P1 with more power and more extreme handling ability.

The changes wrought by McLaren to create the P1 GTR include a wider front track, new front splitter, fixed rear wing, new exhaust and centre lock hubs under 19″ forged wheels. Oh, and an extra 85 horses.

Buyers of the P1 GTR got access to a driver training programme to give them at least a prayer of staying alive and getting the most from the car, as well as entry in to a P1 GTR race series.

Just 40 cars were planned by McLaren to add to the regular P1 sales, and each car cost around £2 million in the UK, more or less twice the price of a regular P1. And now, if you missed out on the GTR first time around, you can grab one in the UK – albeit at a premium.

Supervettura in Surrey has for sale a P1 GTR in Volcano Yellow and with under 150 miles on the clock (we guess the owner never went near a track), and it can be your for just £3,000,000 (that’s £2.5 million plus the VAT).
