New Citroen C3 Aircross SUV is the ‘Best Buy Car of Europe’
The new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV has been voted the ‘Best Buy Car of Europe’ by AutoBest based on votes cast by a panel of 31 European car journalists.
There was a time when small MPVs were the car of choice for families to shuffle their brood around and run errands. But not any more.
Now, everyone and his dog wants an SUV instead, so every car maker is busy rolling out endless takes on the SUV – from compact to full size – and turning their MPVs in to SUVs.
Peugeot has done that successfully with both the 3008 and 5008, and Citroen has turned the compact MPV C3 Picasso in to the new Citroen C3 Aircross to boost sales.
In the process, Citroen has delivered a very funky looking compact crossover which is individual and appealing, particularly to a younger demographic, and continues Citroen’s drive to make their cars more individual.
The move from rather bland MPV to funky crossover has now been rewarded by AutoBest, which has decreed the C3 Aircross as the Best Buy Car in Europe.
Voted by a panel of 31 motoring journalists from Europe (including the UK), the C3 Aircross beat the Opel/Vauxhall Grandland X in to second place, followed by the VW T-Roc, SEAT Ibiza, Ford Fiesta and Honda Civic.
Dan Vardie, AuoBest founder, said:
This year we had 6 new models competing for the Best Buy Car of Europe in 2018. Was a tough competition- all the 6 cars deserve our congratulations – giving the new Citroen C3 Aircross Compact SUV a remarkable victory and the possibility to be the European champion. Coming from Jury members of so many countries of our continent, the result is relevant at an European level.
The new C3 has sold more than 230,000 already, and the C3 Aircross is helping boost that further.
