Toyota GR Supra A90 Edition oversold in the UK
The new Toyota Supra has now been revealed, and it gets a special launch model – the Toyota GR Supra A90 Edition. But it’s been oversold in the UK.
It’s only a fortnight since the new Toyota Supra was revealed as Toyota revealed their take on the collaboration that also delivered the new BMW Z4.Just like its BMW cousin, the new Supra comes with a 335bhp BMW petrol engine, but thanks to shorter ratios, and more, it’s actually a bit quicker the BMW’s take.
As you might expect after so long away from the market, and a whole host of Supra anoraks waiting for its arrival, demand for the new Supra is likely to be strong, even more so for the limited edition Supra A90 Edition with just 24 cars available for the UK.
So the second, literally, Toyota opened up orders for the A90 Edition, they had a wave of orders. But it seems their system had a bit of a glitch and ended up taking more orders than they had cars. Whoops.
So, according to supramkv, Toyota has been sending out apologies to those who thought they’d secured an order for the A90 Edition, but haven’t. They said (more on the link):
I’m sure you will appreciate that the re-introduction of the Supra has been met with unprecedented level of interest and specifically a high level of demand for the A90 Special Edition. As a result of this demand, we experienced a technical failure in our order system which allowed orders to be accepted in excess of the available number of vehicles that were actually available. Unfortunately, it has not been possible for us to secure any additional supply of the A90 Special Edition.
Toyota hasn’t just binned-off the disappointed buyers with an apology, but have offered to supply the Supra Pro and throw in a two year service plan and an invite to a Toyota Gazoo Motorsport Event, or to cancel the order and refund the deposit.
It seems even a company as efficient as Toyota can get gremlins in their IT, but, beyond the disappointment, we can’t see many walking away from their order.

Matt says
I would. Just 24 units? Are you kidding me. After it’s taken them years and years to finally come out with it, they pull this crap. They should also offer 10k off for there screwup.
