Porsche Cayenne gets the latest PCM (pictured
The Porsche Cayenne is getting updated for 2016 with Porsche’s latest PCM, and the 2.0 litre petrol turbo Macan goes on sale in Europe.
As updates go, the news that the 2016 Porsche Cayenne is getting Porsche’s latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, complete with 7″ touchscreen and much better functionality, isn’t earth shattering. Although no-cost upgrades are always good.First introduced when the 911 facelift arrived, the new PCM gets a user interface that’s more smartphone-like and controlled by touch or proximity sensor, with Apple CarPlay new and improved Sat Nav, Bluetooth, USB and SD connectivity as well as the option (at a cost) to add the Connect Plus module which improve real time traffic information and adds a Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Porsche isn’t increasing the price of the Cayenne, despite the PCM upgrade.
New Porsche Macan 2.0 litre petrol turbo for Europe
It’s nearly two years since the Porsche Macan arrived with a four-cylinder, 2.0 litre turbo engine in the UK (and some other markets, notably China), and now Porsche has decided it’s also worth offering in Europe.
Perhaps in the belief that the whole dieselgate mess is turning buyers off diesel-engined cars, even in Germany, Porsche is offering up the 2.0 litre Macan as a sensible alternative to the diesel-engined model. And they’re right to do so – unless you do mega miles it’s a better bet.
With what is basically a 2.0 litre from the Golf GTI, the 2.0 litre Macan in Germany gets 252PS and 273lb/ft of torque delivered through a seven-speed PDK ‘box and is good for 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds (6.5s with the optional Chrono Pack) and up to 40mpg (depending on spec).
The 2.0 litre petrol Porsche Macan is now on sale in Germany, with first deliveries in June.
