The Spyker C8 Preliator is being teased as a new car from Spyker heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Could it be an electric C8 Aileron?
Last month we reported that Spyker looked set to be at the Geneva Motor Show with a new car, and a new tease from Spyker on Facebook confirms we’ll be seeing the Spyker C8 Preliator.
We’ve assumed that Spyker would be heading down the electric car route after they did some sort of merger with Volta Volare – makers of electric planes – so we reckoned any new car from Spyker would be an EV take on the B6 Venator. But it seems not.
Although Spyker has said nothing about the Preliator, it does seem likely it’s going to be an electric take on the C8 Aileron, rather than on the B6 Venator.
The teaser image (above) does seem to show – lurking in the darkness – a sporty looking car that bears some resemblance to the Aileron, and the ‘C8’ should really be a big clue too.
It also seems that Spyker are dropping the aviation theme of the C8 Aileron’s name, and, assuming the ‘Preliator’ name is Latin, they’re naming this the ‘Warrior’.
If this is an electric Aileron, it’s going to need some serious battery power and electric motors to stand up to the power of the ICE Aileron, which has around 400bhp, but up to 600bhp in the extreme version, from its 4.2 litre Audi V8.
But this is Victor Muller’s Spyker, so there’s no guaranteeing that whatever the C8 Preliator turns out to be will actually go in to production.
