McLaren BP23 Hyper GT Speed Form Desktop Sculpture
Ahead of the arrival of the McLaren BP23 Hyper GT – McLaren’s new three-seat Ultimate Series car – McLaren is delivering a desk sculpture of the car to each of the 106 buyers.
If you’re one of the very lucky buyers of the new McLaren BP23 Hyper GT, then keep a look out for a courier this week, because you’re about to take delivery of the first part of your purchase.McLaren has decided what buyers of the BP23 really, really want is a stylised sculpture of their new car as a desk ornament, so they’ve produced 106 – the number of BP23s being built, and also the number of F1s ever made – which are now winging their way to those buyers.
McLaren are calling the BP23 desk ornaments ‘Speed Form’, and each has taken 100 hours to create, with 30 of those hours spent on hand-polishing the sculpture which was machined using 5-axis CNC cutters and hand assembled.
The new sculpture doesn’t really tell us anything new about the BP23, but we do know it will be McLaren’s fastest ever car – topping 243mph – thanks to a huge amount from its 4.0 litre V8 and help from electrical assistance. And, of course, the three-seat layout last used in the McLaren F1.
We’ve already seen the BP23 in a design sketch just last month – as well as that three-seat layout in a 720S mule – and we’re expecting to see something more concrete before long. But, for now, you’ll have to make do with the Speed Form BP23. Well, as long as you’re one of the 106 buyers.
Although you could try eBay later this week.
