Want a Ferrari 458 Speciale? Then you’ll need to spec BIG

With the Ferrari 458 Speciale in big demand – and rapidly selling out – it seems the only way to make sure you’re at the top of the order list is to spec very big.

It’s over a year since the Ferrari 458 Speciale was revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it’s a big seller.

That’s no surprise – even with a list price a big chunk above the regular 458s (£209k before options) – as the Speciale is a hardcore 458 with 597bhp, 398lb/ft of torque, less weight and better aerodynamic efficiency.

But unlike the 458 Speciale A (the open top Speciale with just 499 being built and all sold out), the hard-top Speciale is a more regular production car for Ferrari, and despite Ferrari gearing up for the end of the naturally aspirated V8 next March, the 458 Speciale can still be ordered.

But if you are thinking of ordering (rather than snapping up one of the number on the second-hand market at premiums of up to £50k) you’re going to have to be prepared to dig deep, as it seems the only way to get to the top of the order list is to spec big.

Tim Marlow, main man at Supercar Finance experts Magnitude Finance, said:

One client ordered the car many months ago but he was subsequently advised to increase the options he selected to guarantee delivery simply because others are prepared to go pay over the odds to get one new.

So if you really must have a 458 Speciale you will need to tick a lot of option boxes, possibly spending even more than the premium on a used car.

But it’ll doubtless be worth it, and you will be the first owner.
