The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake and Speedster join the Coupe and Volante to complete a 325 unit run of Vanquish Zagatos.
Aston Martin and Zagato have created some very special cars in the last 50-odd years, from the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato – now the most expensive classic Aston – to last year’s Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante. The Volante version of the Vanquish Zagato followed on from the Vanquish Zagato Coupe, and now Aston Martin and Zagato are extending their offerings with a Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake and Speedster.
The Zagato Speedster and Shooting Brake will, just like the Coupe and Volante, be based on Aston’s Vanquish, and the total run for Aston’s Vanquish Zagato family will be 325 cars – 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters and 99 Shooting Brakes.
The Zagato Speedster (pictured above) will actually be revealed in public at Pebble Beach this week, although the Zagato Shooting Brake (below) isn’t going to get a physical reveal until 2018.
But if you want a Coupe, Volante or Speedster you’re already too late – they’re all sold – but the Shooting Brake, which will be properly revealed later, isn’t – yet.
The V12 under the bonnet of the quartet of models comes with 592bhp,there’s an eight-speed Touchtronic auto ‘box and adaptive damping and performance is lively – 3.4 seconds to 62mph in Coupe – a bit slower in the Volante, Speedster and Shooting Brake.
The look is just what you’d expect from a Zagato take on an Aston Martin, with the Speedster’s Speed Humps evoking the Zagato double bubble, and even the estate-looking Shooting Brake having the double bubble roof.
Andrea Zagato said of the Vanquish Zagato family:
Zagato’s relationship with Aston Martin began with my grandfather and the DB4 GT Zagato, almost sixty years ago. To have a creative ‘marriage‘ thrive for three generations is something as unique as the cars themselves.
Collaborating closely on the design of four complimentary, yet completely different Vanquish Zagatos has been an incredibly exciting challenge.
I’m proud to continue the story my grandfather started and thrilled that our partnership with Aston Martin continues to realise such exciting cars.
