BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept
The BMW M8 Grand Coupe – BMW’s new range-topping 8-Series – will debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November and go on sale in 2020.
It was only last summer that the BMW 8 Series was finally resurrected by BMW after a long absence, this time round to take the place of the 6 Series cars and move them more upmarketBut even though it’s just a year ago, BMW has been busy rolling out more and more variations on the 8 Series to fill every niche they can in the luxury, sporty ‘coupe’ market.
It stared with the regular BMW 840d and M850i Coupes, followed by the 8 Series Convertible, the 8 Series Gran Coupe and, of course, M8 Coupe and Convertible.
But the 8 Series which still to arrive is the M8 Gran Coupe, previewed by the M8 Gran Coupe concept last year and aimed at the top of the range Porsche Panamera and AMG GT Four Door.
But that missing piece of the 8 Series family, and probably the most appealing, is about to arrive as BMW announce the M8 Gran Coupe will debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November and go on sale in the New Year.
Powered by the same 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 as the M8 Coupe and Convertible, the M8 Gran Coupe will probably arrive in the UK in just Competition guise, which means 616bhp and a 0-62mph perhaps a tenth or so slower then the 3.2 seconds the Coupe manages.
Expect the BMW M8 Gran Coupe to cost at least £135k.
