Ford Kuga ST-Line joins Ford’s expanding ST-Line range
The Ford Kuga has become the latest Ford to get Ford’s ST-Line treatment, joining the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo. On sale UK Autumn 2016.
Ford launched its new ST-Line option only last month as it aimed to bring some of the sporty looks of its ST models to more prosaic versions in its range, starting with the ST-Line option for the Fiesta and Focus, and adding the Mondeo ST-Line to the offerings a few weeks later.Having worked its way through the car offerings, Ford is now out to attach a bit of ST gloss to its SUVs, starting with this, the new Ford Kuga ST-Line, with sporty additions to add to its showroom appeal.
Ford has given the Kuga ST-Line gloss black grilles with a honeycomb design for the lower grille, with matching mesh finish on the fog lights bezels, Front Skid Plate, side skirts, mirrors, door cladding and rear roof spoiler in body colour, gloss black rear skid plate, black roof rails, tinted lights and privacy glass.
There’s also a new set of 18″ high gloss black alloys or 19″ alloys in Ebony Black, part leather sports seats with contrast stitching, two-layer metallic-effect Deep Space paint on the centre console and a black headliner.
But it’s not just the cosmetics that Ford has tweaked on the ST-Line, there’s a lower ride height, thicker anti roll bars, stiffer suspension bushes, tweaked spring and damper rates and revised calibration for the steering for a more sporty response.
Frederick Vrancken, Kuga ST-Line vehicle dynamics engineer said:
Ford ST-Line models are designed to deliver a fun to drive experience, and we placed a strong focus on ensuring that Ford’s first performance-orientated SUV in Europe offered the same driving characteristics as the Fiesta ST-Line, Focus ST-Line and Mondeo ST-Line models.
The Ford Kuga ST-Line will be available to order this Autumn from Ford’s dealers, with the full range of Kuga engines on offer.
