Hyundai are launching three schemes to keep buyers coming as the Scrappage Scheme ends – Trade & Upgrade, Happy Returns and Friends & Family.
We ran a number of stories last year on Hyundai’s clever marketing, and the way they cleaned up under the Scrappage Scheme. But with a smart marketing team at their disposal – and the Government Scrappage Scheme coming to a close – Hyundai are making sure that they’re still ahead of the game as they launch a number of incentives to keep Hyundais flying out of the showroom.
The first offer from Hyundai is their own version of the Scrappage Scheme – with the same £2,000 discount off any new Hyundai if you trade in a car between 7 and 10 years old – which they’re calling it the Hyundai Trade & Upgrade scheme.
Second deal is for customers who have already taken advantage of a new Hyundai under the Scrappage Scheme. Under this scheme – Hyundai Happy Returns – owners can chop in their Hyundai at any time up to the first anniversary of their purchase for a fixed fee – £499 for an i10, £599 for an i20 or £749 for an i30. Which is a pretty good deal as it will save owners renewing their tax disc and forking out for the first service.
Final offer is Hyundai Friends and Family. Under this scheme Hyundai are sending out a £250 voucher to everyone who bought a Hyundai under the Scrappage Scheme to give to a member of their family, or a friend, to use against the purchase of a new Hyundai.
The rise and rise of Hyundai continues.

The Hyundai dealer I visited charges a £200 admin fee on scrappage deals. Is this a standard charge for this scheme across the industry ?
CarsUK says
We don’t honestly know! It does seem a bit steep as it amounts to 20% of the dealer’s contribution. But we’ll ask Hyundai if this is company policy and let you know.

We’ve spoken to Hyundai who say ‘An admin charge for scrappage cars is certainly not something we recommend or expect from our dealers‘. We’ve emailed you for the name of the dealer as Hyundai want to check this out.
Fair response from Hyundai.
