2017 Kia Sportage (pictured) updated with new model options
The new Kia Sportage – only launched in the UK in early 2016 – gets updates for 2017 including new models and new technology.
The 2016 Kia Sportage only arrived in the UK earlier this year, but it’s already getting tweaks and titivations.Just like its sister car – the Hyundai Tucson – the Kia Sportage is a proper success for the Korean car maker, with 35,000 units of the new Sportage shifted already.
But the experience of shifting that amount in a relatively short period of time means Kia has worked out what buyers want and what they don’t, and it seems what they want is all the toys and technology and the option of a DCT ‘box.
The first of the high-end models being introduced is the Sportage GT-Line S, building on the popular GT-Line spec with stuff like heated steering wheel, headlamp washers, bi-xenon headlights, smart park assist and more.
Powertrain options for the new GT-Line S will be the 2.0 CRDi six-speed auto and the 1.6 T-GDi with 7-speed DCT.
With a ‘First Edition’ model now a bit pointless, Kia are replacing it with the Sportage KX-5 with all the same bells and whistles for buyers who want everything Kia can throw at a car – including two-tone leather, wireless phone charging and more – and is available with 2.0 CRDi engine and 6-speed auto.
Kia are also making the 7-speed dual-clutch DCT automatic gearbox available on trim levels ‘2’ and ‘3’, as well as an upgraded infotainment system including 3D mapping, SD map updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on trim 2 and above. There are also updated paint options.
The 2017 Kia Sportage can now be ordered from Kia’s UK dealers.

John Murphy says
I have a Sportage 4 on a 66 plate and just missed Android Auto.
I keep hoping there will be an upgrade available as the Tomtom maps are rubbish in comparison with Google Maps.
Anyone know anything about that being a possibility. They are doing it in the US.
Jonathan Zammit says
Hi John,
Have the same problem. Where you able to update your infotainment system?
