Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro arrives as a range-topping Limited Edition MX-5

The Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro Limited Edition revealed for the UK with cosmetic tweaks and extra equipment. Just 600 cars costing from £24,295.

It’s not much more than six months since the new Mazda MX-5 went on sale in the UK, but Mazda are already stepping up with a Limited Edition model to add to the MX-5 range – the Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro.

But with the MX-5 all new and appealing, Mazda aren’t offering the Sport Recaro as a way to boost flagging sales by adding more equipment for less money, instead they’re using the Sport Recaro as a way of extending the top-end offering.

That means a headline price for the MX-5 Sport Recaro of £24,295 – £1,000 more than the top of the range Sport Nav model on which it’s based – but you do get more for your money, and if the extras float your boat it’s a good offering.

Those extras include a choice of two metallic paint jobs – Soul Red Metallic and Ceramic Metallic – and a Brilliant Black Sports Aero Kit that adds a rear spoiler, skirts all round, black mirrors and 17″ diamond-cut alloys.

Inside gets a tweak too, with Alcantara on the dashboard as well as the Recaro seats (which get red piping), alloy pedals and unique mats.

On sale now at Mazda’s UK dealers, the £24,295 Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro is limited to 600 units, so if you want one you probably need to get on with it.
