Range Rover Sport SVR tackles a snow-covered ‘Silverstone’

Land Rover has taken the potent Range Rover SVR off to a frozen lake in Sweden, carved out a ‘Silverstone’ track and gone out to play.
The Range Rover Sport SVR may be Land Rover’s answer to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and as a result more road-focussed, but its USP still remains its ability to do stuff other performance cars can’t.Whether taking the RR SVR to Sweden and sticking it on a ‘Silverstone’ track carved on an ice lake in Arjepog, Sweden, proves the SVR is like no other performance car is debatable (Bentley do it every year with their Continental GTs, and now with the Bentayga SUV too), but it still makes for some good photos and a watchable video as two tonnes of Range Rover play on the slippery stuff.
Land Rover’s video of the ice-driving SVR features Ben Saunders – polar explorer and Land Rover Ambassador – as he gets instructions from former rally champion Minna Sillankorva on how to tackle the icy ‘Silverstone’ in the very powerful RR SVR.
Mike Cross, Land Rover’s chassis guru, said:
We pride ourselves on the all-terrain capability and composure of our vehicles, putting them through intensive hot and cold climate testing. The Range Rover Sport SVR is the most dynamic model we’ve ever produced and combining these qualities showcases the unique talents and expertise of our dedicated engineers.
A lot of what Ben Saunders achieved in the SVR is thanks to Land Rover’s clever Terrain Response technology, but it does make for an enjoyable watch as the big Range Rover sweeps round slippery bends. And the sound of the RR SVR isn’t too shoddy either.
