Vettel takes pole in Brazilian Grand Prix at rain-soaked Interlagos

Sebastian Vettel has taken pole position in the 2013 Brazil Grand Prix – the last race of the season – on a rain-soaked Interlagos track.

The weather may have been horrible – with rain lashing the Interlagos track – and Sebastian Vettel may already have taken the F1 driver’s title for 2013, but the weather and the already won title made no difference. Sebastian Vettel has taken pole position for Red Bull at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The heavy rain at Interlagos managed to delay Q3, but Vettel was as impressive as he has been for the rest of the season to continue the run of Red Bull poles, followed by Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes in second and Fernando Alonso took third place, his equal best starting place this season.

Mark Webber – in his last F1 drive – took his Red Bull in to fourth place with Lewis Hamilton taking the second Mercedes in to fifth.

Romain Grosjean, who started Q3 the quickest, finished in sixth followed by the Toro Rossos of Ricciardo and Vergne with Massa in ninth and Nico Hulkenberg taking the final top ten spot.

It was another poor day for McLaren with both drivers failing to make Q3, and even Jenson Button, ususally a master in the rain, failing to beat soon-to-depart team mate Sergio Perez, with Button starting in 15th and Perez in 14th. It’s clear McLaren can’t wait for the season to end tomorrow.

If the rain continues at Interlagos tomorrow we could see an exciting race, with Fernando Alonso perhaps able to end his difficult season an a high.
