The MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 – MINI’s first plug-in hybrid – is already on sale and will get its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It’s two months since the MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 was revealed as the first MINI with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and it went on sale in the UK straight away.
But despite the plug-in MINI going on sale in the UK in March, hardly anyone has actually seen it.
In reality, that’s not a huge problem, because everyone buying the plug-in Countryman knows its still a regular Countryman, just with an electric motor at the back.
Despite that, MINI are keen you know their first plug-in will be getting a public airing, and the UK debut is lined up for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which runs from 29 June to 3 July.
Clearly MINI hope that putting the plug-in Countryman in front of a huge number of petrolheads at Goodwood will pique interest in a MINI which is, potentially, the pick of the range. Well, perhaps apart from the price.
Adding a plug-in setup to the MINI has pushed the price up to £31,585 OTR – although it is eligible for £2,500 OLEV grant – but you do get a promisingly able MINI for your money.
That means a total of 221bhp to play with from the combination of the three-pot engine at the front and an 88bhp electric motor at the back, promising a 25 mile electric range, 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds and a low BIK rate thanks to its 49g/km emissions.
Equipment levels are decent too, with Bluetooth, Sat Nav, Cruise and Active Guard, 17″ alloys and hybrid-specific instruments.
So if you’ve been cogitating over acquiring a plug-in MINI, Goodwood Festival of Speed is the place to make your mind up.
